Farnsworth House

Overview

In this project, Students were required to draw multiple plans of the Farnsworth House by hand, which included 1 floor plan, 2 elevation plans, 1 section plan, 1 axonometry plan, 1 one-point perspective drawing and finally 1 two-point perspective drawing.

Students not only learnt about the Architecture elements of the farnsworth house but more importantly, the proper methods of drawing Architectural plans. we were taught how to include section lines, dimension lines, lettering blocks and even small details such as line weights and the north point symbol.

Drawing Plans

Outcome

I found this work to be absolutely necessary for any Architecture student. Despite most of the world using digital drawing plans these days, I still strongly believe that everyone would still need to go through this process to get a feel of drawing with pen and paper as well as grasping the basics of drawing plans before moving on to digital software.
